PULSE: Medical Myths Exposed

 

A recent paper published in the British Medical Journal sets some common health myths straight. Researched by Rachel Breeman and Aaron Carroll at the Center for Health Policy and Professionalism Resarch at Riley Hospital and Indiana University School of Medicine.

- You do not have to drink 8 glasses of water a day. You get this fluid from fruits and vegetables and other beverages, not just glasses of H2O.
- You use more than 10% of your brain. The study shows that no part of the brain is totally inactive.

- Reading in dim light does not wreck your eyes. You may strain to see, but your vision should return to normal.
